What you give us

Two places on this site ask you for something. The journal asks for a first name and an email address, then lets you write an entry. The Real Lovers Club signup asks for your name, an email address, and, if you choose, a phone number. Everything else on the site you can read and watch without telling us anything.

Where it goes

A journal entry is saved to a private spreadsheet that only her team can open, and a copy is emailed to them so they see it arrive. Your first name and email address are kept with it, so she knows who wrote and can write back.

Your first name and email address are also added to her mailing list, which runs on a platform called Rivet, along with a note that you wrote in the journal. Your entry is not. What you wrote goes to her, not into a marketing tool.

The Real Lovers Club

Joining the club adds your name and email address to her mailing list on Rivet, marked as a club member. If you give a phone number too, it is added so she can text you, and that is the only reason we ask for it. The phone number is optional; the club works without it.

What you agreed to

The journal asks for an address so she can send you the next song and the key to The Vault, and says plainly that it will not be used for anything else. We keep a copy of that exact wording alongside your entry, with the date, so there is a record of what you actually agreed to rather than whatever the page happens to say later.

Who else sees it

Two companies, and only because they are how the thing works. Google hosts the spreadsheet and the inbox your entry is kept in, inside her team’s own account. Rivet holds the mailing list your name and address are added to. Both are bound by their own privacy terms, and neither is given your entry and your address for any purpose other than the one above.

We do not sell your details, and we do not share them with anyone else.

Remembering you

If you finish a journal entry, the site keeps your first name and email address in that same browser storage so it does not ask you for them again next time. That is the only reason it is kept. You can clear it from the journal itself by choosing to write as someone else, or by clearing your browsing data.

We do not use advertising cookies, and there are no tracking pixels, analytics scripts, or third party tags on this site. The one exception is below, and it only happens if you ask for it.

The song on the journal page

The journal page offers one of Jastin’s songs to listen to while you write. It stays switched off until you press play. When you do, Spotify’s player loads from Spotify, and from then on Spotify’s own privacy policy covers it, including any cookies it sets. If you never press play, nothing from Spotify loads.

What the site does on its own

The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records technical information when a page is requested, including IP address, browser type and the page requested, and uses it to serve the site and protect it from abuse. That happens whether or not you type anything. Vercel’s own privacy policy governs that data.

Fonts are served from this site rather than from a font provider, so loading a page does not tell anyone else that you visited.

Leaving the site

Links to streaming services, YouTube and ticketing take you to sites we do not run. Once you are there, their privacy policies apply, not this one. We do not pass anything about you to them.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly ask them for personal information. If you believe a child has given us something, write to us and we will remove it.

Your choices

Every email she sends you has an unsubscribe link, and using it takes you off the list for good. If you gave a phone number, reply STOP to any text and the texts stop.

You can also write to us at the address below and ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, including your entry. We will do it, and we will do it everywhere it is kept, the spreadsheet, the inbox and the mailing list, not just the one that is easy.

Anything the site kept in your own browser you can clear yourself at any time by clearing your browsing data for this site.

Changes

If this changes, we will change this page and update the date at the top. Meaningful changes to what we collect or who receives it will be described here, not buried.
